Introducing Homespun Chicory Root Syrup, a vegan-friendly sweetener with a delicately sweet taste but up to 70% lower sugar levels than other syrups (maple syrup, honey, brown rice syrup, agave syrup, etc). It can be used as any other sweetener: in baking, on porridge or pancakes, in smoothies, for salad dressings, sauces and marinades, etc.
Chicory syrup is extracted from fresh chicory roots, so it’s high in prebiotic fibre (to feed your gut) and because it is also low on the glycemic index, it is scientifically proven to keep your blood sugars stable, meaning no sugar spikes and crashes.
Homespun is a boutique Irish wholefoods company run by Erica Sheehan. The chicory root is grown in the Netherlands, and the syrup is packed here in Ireland. It comes in a glass jar that is perfect to reuse, and if it proves popular, there’s a chance to stock it as a refill!
